Conclusions and Recommendations for the Restoration of Room 102
Room 102 has been altered in much the same manner as Room 101.
Entablature: This series of moldings date to after ca.1929 and should be removed. It is possible remnants of wallpaper may be found under this added feature.
Mantel: The present mantel was installed as part of the 1921-1929 renovations. This mantel should be removed to permit examination of the wall behind it. The outline of the original mantel may be present and may be a guide for an appropriate mantel of the ca. 1857 period.
Ceiling: based on the surviving finishes in Hall 100:
White: Benjamin Moore 0C-61 Gloss level: Flat
Walls: the ca. 1857 finish appears to have been Wallpaper
All woodwork, including the Doors:
White: Benjamin Moore 0C-57 Gloss level: Semi-gloss
This room may benefit from additional examination, in view of the added entablature and the replacement of the mantel.
