Headquarters for Generals

In 1860, Hamilton Mask sold the Verandah House to Burnett B. Wilkerson, who later in the year resold the property to William Simonton.
During the Civil War, Simonton’s residence served as headquarters for both Confederate and Federal generals during their occupations of Corinth.
Three of the more prominent officers to use the house were Henry Halleck, Braxton Bragg, and John Bell Hood.
